The Decemberists
What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World is the seventh studio album from The Decemberists, released in early 2015—featuring songs Make You Better and The Wrong Year.
The Decemberists describe the new album as the band’s “most varied and dynamic work, both musically and emotionally.” Frontman Colin Meloy says much of the album explores far more personal, introspective topics than previous Decemberists records as “having a family, having kids, having this career, getting older — all of these things have made me look more inward.”
The Decemberists 2011 album The King is Dead produced a Grammy nomination for Down by the Water in the Best Rock Song category.
Spoon
“Spoon have spent the past two decades proving that minimalism doesn’t need to mean thinking small. Throughout their eight albums, the Austin band has stuck with a bedrock sound built on chugging guitar, crisp hooks and frontman Britt Daniel’s wryly incisive vocals.” Jon Dolan, Rolling Stone
Spoon’s eighth album is an immediate grabber on par with the group’s best work to date. It’s also the first time Spoon have worked extensively with big-name producers who’ve helped create a rich, luminous sound for their songs.
