A Bend man was arrested on menacing and weapons charges after allegedly pulling a gun on his neighbor. A SWAT team and drone were used to apprehend 49-year-old Thomas L. Lingo at at a residence east of Sisters early Wednesday. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an assault in the 67000 block of Harrington Loop Road.
“Responding deputies learned Thomas Lingo had assaulted another subject at the residence. During the assault, it was also reported Lingo had pointed a firearm at the adult male victim. Lingo and the victim live on the same property, but they do not reside in the same residence. DCSO deputies, along with City of Bend Police officers and an Oregon State Police trooper arrived on scene and attempted to contact Lingo through verbal communications. Initial attempts to contact Lingo were unsuccessful. DCSO SWAT Team members were then called out to the location. The DCSO SWAT Team was able to assist the victim and other family members with safely leaving the property. They were then able to take Lingo into custody and recover the firearm he possessed during the assault.”
Lingo was arrested on charges of: Assault 4, Menacing, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The City of Bend Police Department supported with a drone and armored vehicle during the incident. DCSO would like to thank Bend PD and the Oregon State Police for their assistance.
