Does your New Year’s resolution include reducing food waste? Learn how to take advantage of seasonal sales or save your extra garden or Farmer’s Market bounty to use all year with an online, hybrid course, Preserve @ Home. Participants learn how to safely preserve a wide variety of tasty, high quality food products.
The first session of the 6-week, self-paced course opens on-line on Thursday, January 17, 2019. The optional hands-on lab to practice food preservation methods will be on Saturday, March 2, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM at the OSU Extension office in Redmond. Participants will make and take home pressure canned and boiling water canned products, dry jerky and start fermenting sauerkraut.
Cost of the course is $55 plus the cost of required supplemental materials (many are free, on-line). The registration deadline is Monday, January 14, 2019.
