Human Trafficking in Central Oregon: What to Know

January 28, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Human Trafficking and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) happen every day in Central Oregon. It may not be what you think. You might encounter people who are being exploited or are at high risk of exploitation every single day – where you work, shop, socialize, or even in your own neighborhood. Come learn what to look for, what to listen for … and what you can do to help.

You might encounter people who are being exploited or are at high risk of exploitation every single day – where you work, shop, socialize, or even in your own neighborhood. The Deschutes County Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Response Team invites you to join us for this special evening in honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month to learn about what you can do to help prevent and stop this modern form of slavery.

Learn about your local Response Team, the trafficking we see in Central Oregon, who is at risk, how to identify someone who is being exploited or at risk, and what you can do if you see something or have concerns. You can be a part of the solution!

Erin Kevin, Victim Specialist, FBI — Presenter and Moderator

Panel Presenters: Matthew Nelson, Deputy District Attorney, Deschutes County; Mel Parker, Human Trafficking Project Manager, J Bar J Youth Services; Sara Perkins, Survivor Leader; and Joshua Spano, Detective, Bend Police Department.
