Attend this free introduction to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Find out how practicing mindfulness to learn to live in the present moment can help you determine what leads you forward, and what holds you back. Mindfulness practice also helps to reduce stress, pain and anxiety, and can help you become healthier and happier. And, it’s more than that. It is a way of knowing yourself in a new way – one that can lead you forward with confidence and peace.
Prolonged stress can have devastating effects on your physical and mental health. Knowing yourself by practicing mindful awareness includes learning to identify when you are stressed, and what causes your stress reactions. Learning how to respond in a healthier way to stress impacts your health and wellbeing in a positive way.
Participants in the MBSR course have reported and increased ability to relax, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, improved confidence and self-esteem, and improved coping ability in a variety of situations.
The introduction will cover important information about the program including the history of MBSR, effects of stress on your health and well being and how MBSR can help, research, what you will learn, guidelines for participation, risks and benefits, class logistics, and more. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and decide if the class is for you at this time.
The MBSR Orientation and classes will be held at Haelan House, 1183 NW Wall Street, Suite B, in Bend. There is parking behind the building and stairs to go up to the street level. If you have mobility issues and can’t do stairs, park on the street level and come in the main door.
