In November last year, Facebook announced the launch of a new program to invest in small businesses across the country: Community Boost. The program is designed to help small businesses grow and to give more people the digital skills they need to compete in the new economy. Community Boost will be in Redmond this year from October 23 to October 24.

Why Oregon? According to research conducted by Morning Consult, and co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Facebook, small businesses’ use of social media is creating new opportunities – and there’s a demand for digital skills in Oregon.

In fact, 77% of small business owners surveyed in the region believe that Facebook allows them to find customers in other cities, states, or countries. Moreover, 74% confirmed that digital skills were important in determining whether or not to hire new employees.
