Salem Ore. – The Oregon Secretary of State in partnership with county elections officials has launched a new centralized website that will make it easier to track and follow results on election night.
The website, which can be found at results.oregonvotes.gov, replaces the state election results website and includes individual election results pages for each county.
The new election results website offers many advantages, including allowing Oregonians to track all election races in one place and displaying unified results from across Oregon’s 36 counties.
“This is a great example of the state and county government working together to respond to the needs of the people, as communicated through their state senators and representatives,” Secretary of State Jeanne P. Atkins said. “We are pleased we were able to work with Oregon’s 36 county election officers to deliver this project in time for the public to use for the general election.”
The website features an interactive map display, statewide election results by county, and cross-county races. Users can select which races to track and see them conveniently on one screen. In addition to the counties, this project was completed in partnership with election software vendor BPro, a contractor that has worked on similar projects for 10 other states.
“I’m grateful for the cooperation and hard work of county elections officials who are stepping up to make election data more accessible and approachable to the public,” Atkins said.
As before, results will start populating after 8 p.m. Nov. 8, after all the ballots have been cast. The data is uploaded at the county level, and the state’s election night reporting website will be updated every 5 minutes to reflect any updates from the counties.
To see the new data, users would need to manually refresh their browser.
Also as before, results will not be official until they are certified 30 days after Election Day.
