Redmond, Ore. – The Redmond Police Department conducted five enhanced DUII enforcement patrols in September.
During this effort, Redmond police put five additional officers on the road, funded by DUII grant funds. These five Officers worked a total of thirty hours resulting in numerous traffic stops being conducted. Three DUII arrests were made during these extra shifts.
During the month of September, patrol officers working their regular shifts arrested no less than fourteen (14) DUII drivers.
The end of September means the 2015/2016 grant year has ended. The Redmond Police Department intends to apply for additional funds to keep extra officers on the road seeking out and arresting DUII drivers, with the intent to deter DUII driving in the first place.
The primary purpose of these additional patrols is to prevent deaths, injuries and property damage caused by DUII drivers by removing them from the road.
Funding to support these enhanced DUII patrols is provided by a DUII High Visibility Enforcement Grant, awarded to the Redmond Police Department from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
