Bend, Ore. Singer songwriter Crystal Bowersox, a 2010 finalist on American Idol has been performing since she was 10 years old, heads locally to Camp Tamarack in Sisters today to speak to children with diabetes at the camp, sharing her story and inspiring kids to reach for their dreams.
Cyrstal’s music has been met with critical acclaim as she’s also collaborated with such talents as the late Joe Cocker and BB King, Alanis Morrisette, Melissa Etheridge, and many more.
Due to the vigorous taping and rehearsal schedule of American Idol, Crystal nearly lost her spot on the show due to a short hospitalization, but vowed to make it her mission to touch others impacted by diabetes.
Crystal visited with Lisa Carton, KBNW News Radio morning show co-host, to speak about her new role as a Type 1 Diabetes Ambassador for Lilly.
Crystal’s ambassadorship is one more way Lilly Diabetes, who has donated $31 million in medication, scholarships and educational materials since 2001, supports diabetes camps.
