Overhaul Scheduled For Redmond Airport Runway

080714 RDM Runway ImpvmtREDMOND, OR — The Redmond Airport is getting ready for a major overhaul of its primary runway.  Airport officials said Wednesday repaving Runway 4-22 is needed to help prolong its usefulness.  It was last reconstructed in 1993, and the asphalt is nearing the end of its lifespan.

Throughout the two-phase project, crews will reconstruct more than 7,000 feet of runway, improve drainage and install new lights, among other things.  Neighbors may notice increased noise over the city during construction, as flights are rerouted to another runway.

Phase one is slated to begin August 18th and should be completed in the fall.  Phase 2 will follow, with full reconstruction of that primary runway expected by fall of 2015.

For detailed information on the project and impacts to travelers and neighbors, visit the Airport’s Website.
