Redmond Man Arrested on Abuse Charges

Redmond, Ore. – A 22 year old Redmond man was arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with at least one underage female. Redmond Police say Dakota Wayne Harless first contacted the victim when he served as an assistant coach for a Redmond Lacrosse club team.

Tuesday (3/15/16), The Redmond Police Department opened an investigation into the allegation and Harless was contacted, taken into custody, and booked into Deschutes County Jail on multiple charges of Sodomy in the third degree, Rape in the Third degree, Sexual Abuse in the Second degree and Contributing to the Sexual delinquency of a minor.

Harless had initial contact with the victim when he served as an assistant coach for a Redmond Lacrosse club team. The Redmond Police Department is continuing to investigate the case and would request the public and or media use discretion as the case is sensitive in nature considering the age of the victims.

The Redmond School District provided the following statement regarding the Redmond Lacrosse Club:

The Redmond Lacrosse team is a community club sport.  As a Tier III activity, it is not sponsored or managed by the Redmond School District. Tier III activities are independently organized and funded, and independently employ coaches and volunteers.
