“The High Desert Museum is an integral part of the fabric of our Central Oregon community”, said Alana Hughson, Central Oregon Visitors Association CEO. “The Gala at the Riverhouse selection of the High Desert Museum as beneficiary helps ensure that the museum’s legacy of offering community-wide programs allowing schools, seniors, visitors with special needs and our military free access to the museum’s enriching experiences can continue. ”
The Gala began as, and continues to be, the tourism industry’s way of giving back to our local community through a concerted effort to raise funds for local non-profits. The selected beneficiary changes in order to focus on one worthy cause, yet has greatly impacted a wide range of organizations over time. Since it began, this annual event has raised over $2 million for a variety of local non-profit organizations.
Past beneficiaries include:
Bend La-Pine Schools Foundation
Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon
Grandma’s House
Sparrow Clubs USA
KIDS Center
Ronald McDonald House
The Every Kid Fund
Deschutes Children’s Foundation
Tower Theater
Cascade Youth & Family Center
Habitat For Humanity
Volunteers in Medicine
The Gala evening includes a delectable, elegant five-course meal, one-of-a-kind silent auction, and special presentation from a featured guest speaker. With The Riverhouse graciously donating all the food and beverages, facility, labor, and production along with help from the Central Oregon Visitor’s Association and the visitor industry, 100% of ticket sales directly benefit the beneficiary.
