(NEW YORK) — Thirteen-year-old YouTube star Caleb Logan Bratayley was remembered Tuesday night at a memorial service that was live-streamed online for his fans.
The service began with video highlights of the Maryland teen’s life. Afterward, several speakers shared their memories of Caleb, including a family friend named Paula, who said, “I promise to live my life more like him and not take myself too seriously.
“I promise you, Caleb, we will watch over your family, as you would have asked us to do, and be there for them as they grieve for you,” she added, crying.
Caleb’s cousin and coaches were among the other speakers.
The service was live-streamed on Facebook and Periscope. Around 39 thousand people watched it on Facebook.
Caleb died last Thursday of what the family initially stated was “natural causes.” In an update shared on Monday, they cited an “undetected medical condition.”
The Bratayleys have a popular YouTube channel with more than 1.6 million subscribers. They are associated with Maker Studios, a digital company owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
