Lakeview, Ore. — The South Central Oregon fire danger level has been dropped from extreme to high due to changing weather conditions.

Effective immediately, the Fremont-Winema National Forest, Lakeview District BLM and Sheldon-Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex have rescinded Public Use Restrictions intended to prevent wildfires and lowered the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to level II.

The only Lakeview District BLM-managed lands exempt are those within the Klamath Falls Resource Area west of the Langell Valley, which is under Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) fire protection. A Regulated Use Closure for lands protected by the ODF Klamath-Lake District remains in place.

Public Use Restrictions for the Sky Lakes and Mt. Thielsen Wilderness Areas remain in place. The Fremont-Winema National Forest manages these wilderness areas with the Rogue River-Siskiyou and Umpqua National Forests, respectively.
