Moccasin Hill Fire Hits 2,500 Acres

Moccasin Hills #2LA PINE, OR — The Moccasin Hill Fire burning near Sprague River continues to grow.  The fire has now burned 2,508 acres in Klamath County, as well as 14 homes.  The fire is at 15% containment.  The Sheriff’s Office evacuated 100 residents in the area over the weekend, but that evacuation was downgraded Monday, allowing people to return to their homes for a short while.

Investigators said there were no lightning strikes reported in the area at the time the fire started  The cause of the Moccasin Fire remains a mystery.
