(NEW YORK) — A Yankees rookie pitcher was left bleeding Monday night.
In the top of the second inning of the Monday night game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins, Yankees starting pitcher Bryan Mitchell was hit in the face with a line drive from Eduardo Nunez of the Twins.
The 24-year-old was struck in the forehead area and left bleeding.
He instantly fell to his knees, but the rookie pitcher was able to walk off the field under his own power.
There is no immediate word on his condition.
