Prineville, Ore. -Michael Estes, a Prineville native, has been hired by The Center Foundation as athletic trainer for Crook County High School.

Recognizing the need for an athletic trainer, funding was secured through donations from the community, Crook County High School athletic departments, the booster club, Good Bike Company and St. Charles. In addition to working as the high school athletic trainer, Estes is also working at Rebound Physical Therapy in Prineville part-time.

“I am excited to be returning home to improve the health and safety of student-athletes at Crook County High School, and being a part of a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the community,” said Estes.

The Center Foundation has athletic trainers in Bend, La Pine and Sisters high schools, and says it “is pleased to expand the program into Prineville.”

Athletic trainers are health care professionals that specialize in prevention, emergency care, rehabilitation, and management of sports related injuries, including concussions. They work at the schools every day until practice or competition has ended. As part of The Center Foundation, they collaborate with The Center physicians, providing the highest quality sports medicine care to achieve healthy outcomes for student athletes.
