This holiday season, Bethlehem Inn is ensuring that individuals and families experiencing homelessness are surrounded by compassion, community, and the warmth of the season. For over 100 men and women, along with 10 families who currently call the Inn home, Christmas will bring the gift of safety, hope, and holiday cheer—thanks to the generosity of local supporters and volunteers.
“For many of our residents, the holidays can be an especially challenging time,” said Gwenn Wysling, Executive Director of Bethlehem Inn. “We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and part of a community. The holidays at Bethlehem Inn are about more than just a meal—they’re about restoring dignity and bringing joy to those in need.”
Holiday Meals and Festivities
This year’s holiday celebrations at Bethlehem Inn will include special meals and activities designed to brighten the season for residents. Volunteers will play a critical role in making these celebrations possible by preparing and serving:
- Christmas Eve Brunch: A festive holiday brunch featuring seasonal flavors and a warm, celebratory atmosphere to welcome the start of the holiday season.
- Christmas Eve Dinner: A delicious ham dinner with festive sides.
- Christmas Day Brunch: A hearty and complete brunch spread.
- Christmas Dinner: A traditional roast beef dinner with all the fixings.
In addition to these meals, residents will receive thoughtfully prepared gift bags filled with essential items and small treats, donated by generous community members. There may even be a surprise visit from Santa Claus himself is also planned, spreading extra holiday cheer for children and adults alike.
Community Support Makes It All Possible
Bethlehem Inn’s holiday efforts are a testament to the power of community. Thanks to the donations and volunteer hours from local supporters, the Inn is able to make the season brighter for its residents. “It’s truly heartwarming to see our neighbors come together to support those who are struggling,” Wysling added. “Every gift, every meal, and every hour volunteered sends a powerful message to our residents: they are not alone.”
Year-Round Needs
While the holidays shine a spotlight on the issue of homelessness, Bethlehem Inn reminds the community that food, shelter, and support are vital needs year-round. “The holiday season is a wonderful time to give, but the needs of our residents continue well into the new year,” said Gwenn Wysling.
Bethlehem Inn operates facilities in both Bend and Redmond, providing shelter, meals, and vital services to individuals and families seeking stability. The organization relies on ongoing donations and volunteer support to continue this critical work.
