The Bend Park and Recreation District is registering now for pre-teens and teens who want to play basketball this winter. Middle school girls basketball and a co-ed high school basketball league are registering now and the season will run from January to late February 2025.

Middle school girls basketball league

This joint program between the Bend-La Pine Schools and BPRD emphasizes individual and team skill development, maximum participation, good sportsmanship and fun.

This program is open to all grades 6 – 8 youth for the 2024 – 25 school year who live in the Bend-La Pine Schools district. Teams practice during the week, games played on weeknights.

High school basketball league

This co-ed league is open to any high school student who is not playing on a high school basketball team. This is a recreational league where players serve as team captains. Staff keep league standings and have playoffs to end the season.

“If you’re a high schooler who loves basketball or is looking for something to keep you active this winter, this league is for you,” said Becky Rexford, sports program and athletic fields manager.

Other basketball leagues

Middle school boys basketball league is already full and underway, but those still interested in youth basketball will be able to join teams with space or register for the waitlist, beginning November 18, until full.

Winter registration opens Dec. 9-11, including winter and spring sports leagues. This includes adult curling, youth hockey, youth indoor soccer, youth lacrosse and youth softball leagues.
