The Bowman Museum is proud to announce the upcoming Saunders Memorial Lecture Series featuring Carrie Gordon, a retired geologist and Oregon naturalist, on October 3rd. With a career dedicated to exploring and understanding the natural world, Gordon will share her deep knowledge of Central Oregon’s rich geologic past.
In her engaging talk, Gordon will delve into the stories told by Central Oregon’s rocks, revealing how the region’s landscape was shaped over millions of years by dramatic forces like climate change, volcanic activity, and cataclysmic events. One of the highlights of the presentation will be an exploration of the Crooked River Caldera, a 29.5-million-year-old volcano that significantly shaped our local geology.
