New Solid Waste Facility At Negus Transfer Station

On Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m., the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners will host a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the completion of a new Solid Waste facility at the Negus Transfer Station, which is located at 2400 NE Maple Ave. in Redmond.

The County invested $20 million to build the 35,000 square foot facility. It will provide a safer, more convenient way for customers to deposit their trash and allow County Solid Waste to transfer trash to the Knott Landfill more efficiently.

When the new facility opens to the public at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 20, customers will deposit their recycled material and trash in two separate locations. They will continue to deposit recycled and organic material outside in designated locations, but they will dispose of their trash inside the new building.

Trash disposal fees at the upgraded Negus Transfer Station will change from volume-based to weight-based, which will allow County Solid Waste to track the amount of waste coming in more accurately.

For more information about Negus and other transfer stations, including a list of accepted items, disposal fees and the hours of operation, visit the Deschutes County Solid Waste website.
