Hailstorm Injury Crash On Highway 97

Bend, Ore. -Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing to investigate yesterday afternoon’s double vehicle injury crash that occurred on Highway 97 at milepost 128 between Bend and Redmond.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 3:50PM, a southbound 2000 Isuzu Rodeo operated by 28 year old KENETH KAYIJA of Bend lost control during a hailstorm and struck a northbound 1995 Ford Explorer operated by 34 year old ARTURO ROSAS-RAMOS Redmond. KAYJIA was transported by ambulance to St Charles Medical Center in Bend for potentially serious injuries.

A male passenger in ROSAS-RAMOS’ vehicle was transported by ambulance to St Charles Medical Center in Redmond for potentially serious injuries.

Both lanes of HWY 97 were closed for approximately one hour during this incident.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
