SUV Crashes into Illegal Motorcycle

Serious injury crash between illegal mini-motorcycle and SUV

Location: SW Silver Lake Boulevard and Reed Market Road, Bend

At approximately 6:09 p.m. on Friday, June 16, Bend Police responded to a report of a serious injury crash at the intersection of SW Silver Lake Boulevard and Reed Market Road.

According to an investigation, Jesse Raphael Cardenas, 37, was driving a silver Honda Cross Tour and traveling westbound on Reed Market Road when she attempted to turn north onto Silver Lake Boulevard. Cardenas pulled in front of a gas-powered mini-motorcycle driven by Graeme Michael Booth, 25, and the mini-motorcycle broadsided Cardenas’s Cross Tour.

Booth was riding the mini-motorcycle westbound in the bike lane before the collision and traveling at approximately 30 MPH. The mini-motorcycle is not street legal. Booth was also not wearing a helmet.

Neither driver was impaired. Cardenas remained at the scene and was cited for an improper right turn.

Booth was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. He was cited for operating a vehicle in a bike lane, misdemeanor driving while suspended and driving without insurance.

The westbound lanes of Reed Market Road were shut down for a short period of time.
