A 48-year-old Redmond man was arrested for allegedly stealing $100,000 from a construction company where he worked. Last Thursday, a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a call for service regarding a large theft from a local construction company. The victim advised their former business manager had fraudulently written numerous unauthorized checks, forging the owner’s signature. The former business manager had also made unauthorized cash withdrawals from the business’ bank and had made multiple purchases through an online shopping website for personal items using the business credit card.

During the preliminary investigation the deputy was provided documented proof of these transactions by the victim. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division was contacted, and they assisted analyzing the vast number of financial documents provided to the deputy. Based on the information gleaned from the documents provided by the victim to investigators, it was determined the suspect had stolen cash and made unauthorized purchases in excess of $100,000.00 dollars. Investigators applied for and were granted a Search Warrant for his residence.

Last Saturday, deputies and detectives from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 3200 block of SW 28th Street in Redmond. During the execution of the search warrant investigators located several items that corroborated the unauthorized purchases from an online shopping website, to include receipts from the unauthorized business credit card purchases.

The suspect was contacted at the residence, taken into custody without incident, and subsequently booked into the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail on the following charges: Aggravated Theft in the First Degree (3 counts), Forgery in the First Degree (3 counts), Aggravated Identity Theft (2 counts).

The investigation is still active, further details will be released when available.
