A Bend man was jailed on a list of charges after barricading himself in a vacant house in northwest Bend Tuesday. Bend Police officers were dispatched at 10:30 a.m. to a burglary in progress in the 400 block of NW State Street . The reporting party advised there was a male inside a vacant house and the owner of the house advised that nobody should be in the residence. Bend Police officers arrived and contacted a male who was inside the residence. The man refused to come out and then barricaded himself inside the home.
The Central Oregon Emergency Response team was called out, and with the assistance of Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office K9 “Quattro”, the suspect, David Michael Taxer, 38, was located hiding in the attic and taken into custody without incident or injury at 4:12 PM.
The suspect was transported to the Deschutes County Jail where he was booked on Burglary I, Criminal Mischief II, and Theft of Services.
