Bend Police and Bend Fire & Rescue responded at 5:07 p.m. to the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks adjacent to the Parkway Northbound Colorado on-ramp where a pedestrian was struck by a train. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and discovered the body next to the train tracks.
The related train had left the area and was located in northern Klamath County at the time of the investigation. Bend Police Officers, Bend Police Detectives, Oregon Department of Transportation and staff from Burlington Northern spent hours investigating the incident. Klamath County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with this investigation, inspecting the train involved in the accident.
The Bend Police Department would like to remind our community that it is illegal to walk on the train tracks that run through our city. Burlington Northern owns the tracks and have several “No Trespassing” signs along the tracks.
