Tuesday around 2:40 p.m., 911 Dispatch received a call of an injured hiker, near the top of Misery Ridge trail at Smith Rock State Park. Redmond Fire personnel responded to her location and determined the 25-year old woman needed to transported about a half-mile down the trail in the wheeled litter to the river crossing, where she crossed to waiting Redmond Fire Personnel. She was evaluated and released to friends.

At about 4:20 p.m., 911 Dispatch received a call of a second injured hiker, who was hiking on the Mesa Verde Trail. 12 volunteers were still responding to the first call when this second incident occurred. Volunteers were able to assist the 43-year old woman and used Redmond Fire’s wheeled litter 0.1 mile down the trail where she was taken across the river to waiting Redmond Fire medics and released to family.
