Nomadland director Chloé Zhao took home the top prize at the 73rd annual Directors Guild of America Awards presented virtually on Sunday.

The Chinese filmmaker is only the second woman, and the first woman of color, to earn the top DGA Award, following Kathryn Bigelow‘s win for 2009’s The Hurt Locker.

Sound of Metal director Darius Marder also earned praise for his first-time feature film.

On the TV side, Susanna Fogel grabbed TV comedy honors for directing the debut episode of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant.  Lesli Linka Glatter won the TV drama award for the final season of Showtime’s Homeland.
