Vancouver also received the 85th pick in this year’s draft, while Anaheim got a third-round pick in next year’s draft.

Kesler, 29, is a former Selke Trophy winner who played his entire 10-year NHL career in Vancouver. During that time, Kesler played in 655 games scoring 182 goals while dishing out 211 assists.

“This trade reinforces our goal to add youth, support our core players and develop draft picks who will contribute to the future success of our team,”Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement. “Nick Bonino and Luca Sbisa are talented players who immediately bring youth and skill to our roster. An additional first- and third-round pick gives us the opportunity to add two strong players to our system.”

Bonino had a breakout 2013-14 season. The 26-year-old played in 77 games scoring 22 goals while accumulating 49 points.

Meanwhile, Sbisa, 24, played in 30 games last season scoring one goal and dishing out five assists.

Kesler is heading into the fourth year of his 6-year, $30 million deal.
