The Bend-La Pine School District wants your ideas for the new middle school under construction on Bend's west side.

The Bend-La Pine School District wants your ideas for the new middle school being built on Bend’s west side.

BEND, Ore. — The Bend-La Pine School District is asking for the public’s help in naming its next middle school.

Superintendent Ron Wilkinson says that names using people should reflect those who have made outstanding contributions to the community and education.

Names of places should recognize historical and geological landmarks, or areas.

Theme names should reflect the character of the community or identify it by reference to indigenous and characteristic plants or animals.

Located on the west side of Bend between Summit High and W.E. Miller Elementary schools, the new 800-seat middle school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2015.

The survey will remain open through November 4.
