Upcoming Forum to Address Regional Water Needs

cityclub_new_2016

Central Oregon residents, policymakers, environmental advocates, and journalists are invited to attend a vital forum discussing the region’s water challenges, featuring a panel of experts and community leaders. As the community navigates new groundwater regulations, prolonged drought, and diverse demands on water resources, this forum will explore the policies and partnerships needed for a sustainable future.
Moderated by OPB’s award-winning journalist Emily Cureton Cook, the event will include:

• Redmond Mayor Ed Fitch, addressing urban water needs.
• Tod Heisler of Central Oregon LandWatch, focusing on environmental and conservation perspectives.
• Bobby Brunoe from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, bringing a tribal perspective to the discussion.

As Central Oregon balances the needs of agriculture, urban growth, and tribal water rights, this forum will provide insights into the status and future of the region’s water supply. Attendees will gain an understanding of current water policies, hydrological concerns, and the collaborative efforts required to protect this vital resource.
