Volunteers in Medicine, Clinic of the Cascades invites community members to a new and exciting event in Central Oregon, The Heart of Healthcare Gala, a benefit supporting working, uninsured locals who rely on VIM to access healthcare. Volunteers in Medicine, Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) is a charitable healthcare clinic and pharmacy operated by volunteer providers and a robust pro-bono medical community that are instrumental in advancing VIM’s mission to improve the health and wellness of the medically uninsured or critically underserved through the engagement of professionals, community partners, and dedicated volunteers. The Heart of Healthcare Gala is not just a fundraising event; it is a celebration of the compassion, dedication, and commitment that our community of medical professionals demonstrate daily and a great opportunity to learn more about the charitable services some of your own healthcare providers may offer to those in need!

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, October 3, 2024
  • Time: Doors open at 6, Gala hosted 6:30pm-8pm
  • Venue: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon
  • Address: 61980 Skyline Ranch Rd, Bend, OR 97703
  • Attire: Business Casual

The evening of fundraising will include a social hour with some small bites and beverages available and a family-style dinner for guests. Attendees will be inspired by the keynote message from one of VIM’s founders, and a longtime physician in Central Oregon, Ronald Carver, MD, and an impactful program showcasing the value volunteer providers and pro-bono partners bring to VIM and how their service saves lives of some of the most underserved in our community.

We are honored to extend this invitation to our Central Oregon community. With your support, we can continue to provide vital healthcare services to the most vulnerable members of our community. Please RSVP by September 25th by contacting Courtney Gallant at cgallant@vim-cascades.org, or visiting https://bit.ly/rsvp-vim. Seating is limited so register soon to secure your spot!

About Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades

Now honoring 20 years of caring, Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades provides healthcare to low-income, working adults who live in Central Oregon and have no medical insurance or means to pay for care. Using a community approach, 200+ in-clinic volunteers and 300 local pro-bono medical partners collaborate to provide patients with necessary primary and specialty medical care, prescription medications and mental health care. Our patients are contributing members of our community and have included construction tradespeople, hospitality workers, fast-food employees, ski instructors, artists, small business owners, river guides, landscapers, ranchers, bicycle mechanics, self-employed entrepreneurs, home health care workers, daycare providers, hairdressers, retail clerks, craftspeople, part-time employees, and students, just to name a few. Patient costs of $154 per visit are funded by patient donations along with local and regional individual, corporate and foundation supporters. Because of the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, every $1 raised is leveraged into $3.82 worth of services, generating more than $150 million worth of care since VIM opened in 2004.
