Missing La Pine Woman’s Body Found

On Saturday, January 27th, 2023 Tamera Torkelson was located deceased in the area of 6th St. and Hwy 97 in the La Pine area.  The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division responded and conducted a thorough investigation and foul play is NOT suspected.  The Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office will continue the investigation. Prior to the discovery of Torkelson, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive search for Torkelson.  Efforts included the deployment of K9 Bloodhound, Copper, and his handler, Search and Rescue Deputies, Detectives, drones, and the Patrol Division.  The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the residents of La Pine for their assistance in this matter.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing La Pine woman. Deputies learned through their investigation Tamera Torkelson, 35, left her residence at approximately 10:00 pm on January 24th, 2024.

She left her residence on foot, without a phone or identification. Tamera id 5′ 6″, 180 pounds, black shoulder length hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a black and white sweater, unknown color leggings, and slippers or sandals of unknown color. It is not known where she will travel to, however has friends in the La Pine area.
