Connect Central Oregon, a leading community organization, invites individuals, families, and groups to join hands in service and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the MLK Day of Service 2024. This federal holiday is designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all of us to volunteer to improve our communities. Embodying the principles of justice, equality, and community, Connect Central Oregon is working with our partner organizations to host a variety of impactful volunteer service projects throughout Central Oregon.

By engaging in volunteer action, participants can actively work towards fulfilling Dr. King’s vision for a more inclusive and compassionate society. Many Central Oregon organizations host projects year after year on the annual MLK Day of Service, including Commute Options:

“2023’s MLK Day of Service project was a GREAT way to bolster our volunteer base after the drop that we experienced during the years of Covid. It was amazing to see so many community members show up to participate, to celebrate MLK Day of service, and a great
way to connect to others that are passionate about serving the community and specifically supporting making our routes to school safer for our Central Oregon students. It was great to work with Connect Central Oregon – that was a powerful channel to get the word out about our project.” -Whitney Bennett, Commute Options Education Program Manager

The diverse range of MLK Day of Service volunteer opportunities caters to various interests and skills, ensuring that everyone can find a project that resonates with them. Whether it’s supporting local seniors and veterans, aiding environmental initiatives, or assisting community organizations, there’s a service project for everyone.
