Bend Fire Department responded to a reported shop fire on in the 64000 block of North Hwy 97 at 10:05pm Tuesday. According to a Bend Fire & Rescue news release, crews arrived to find a large four bay shop fully involved in fire at the back of the property. The fire had started to spread to adjacent trailers, RV and brush before it could be stopped. Eventually water tenders from Cloverdale and Sisters Fire Departments were called in to assist in providing water to the crews on scene as there are no fire hydrants in this area north of the city limits. Bend responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, an ambulance and command staff to the fire.

The cause is under investigation and may take some time to complete due to the extensive damage the building. No estimate on the financial cost of the fire yet but the building and contents are considered a complete loss. There is no home on the property and no one was on site when the fire started. The building and contents were fully insured. Crews will continue to work on scene throughout the night and into the morning to ensure the fire is completely extinguished. This should not cause any traffic delays heading into the morning commute Wednesday morning on N Hwy 97.
