Scouting For Food Drive Saturday

Redmond’s BSA Scout Troop 27 and Cub Scout Pack 27, and BSA Scout Troop 18 of Bend, will be “Scouting for Food” this Saturday. This is an annual food drive which BSA and Cub Scouts nationwide have participated in since 1988. It is part of our program that emphasizes our slogan, “Do a good turn daily.”

Troop 27 and Cub Scout Pack 27 of Redmond will be collecting donations in the parking lots of Safeway and Grocery Outlet on Saturday, April 22, 9:00a – 3:00p. Community members can donate canned goods, shelf stable items, or monetary contributions. Donations will be delivered to the Redmond Community Food Pantry the same day. In 2021 donated items weighed a combined amount of 2,000+ pounds in Redmond alone

Troop 18 of Bend will be collecting donations out front of Grocery Outlet on Saturday, April 22, 8:00a – 4:00p.

Pine Mountain Fire is 85% Contained Monday

The Pine Mountain Fire is 85% contained and remains 2,589 acres in size. Today, firefighters will continue mop-up, back hauling equipment and identifying suppression repair needs. The remaining mop-up is isolated to heat off the control handline

Bynum Tours COCC’s Redmond Campus

U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum, a Democrat representing Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, toured the manufacturing technology classrooms and labs at Central Oregon Community College’s Redmond campus with COCC president Greg Pereira and other college officials for an up-close
