Medicare Workshop Oct. 4th In La Pine

According to the Affordable Care Act’s website HealthInsurance.org, enrollment for Medicare in Oregon as of October 2020 stood at 888,963 people—more than 20 percent of the state’s total population.  Oregon BHI reports that 45,359 of those people live in Deschutes County, indicating a substantial number of local residents who may have questions when it comes to enrolling in Medicare.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed about aging into Medicare and the various parts of Medicare. To assist those in Central Oregon, Bancorp Insurance and Mid Oregon Credit Union have teamed up to offer an in-person educational event entitled “Medicare 101: What You Need to Know About Medicare.” The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on October 4, 2022, at Mid Oregon Credit Union’s La Pine branch location at1675 Huntington Road.

The workshop is no cost, and both members and non-members of the credit union are welcome to attend. Those interested in attending can register on the Mid Oregon Credit Union’s workshop page at www.midoregon.com/education.

This educational seminar is for those who are currently on Medicare or who will be turning 65 this year. The workshop will clearly explain Medicare Part A, Part B, Part D, as well as Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplemental Plans and Part D Prescription Drug Plans so you can leave feeling educated to make an informed decision. This is also a great opportunity to discuss next steps with a Bancorp sales agent. One-on-one consultations are also available by appointment between October 15 and December 7 in the Bancorp offices located in La Pine, OR. Visit www.bancorpinsurance.com to schedule an appointment during the Annual Enrollment Period.

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), all individuals should review and compare their plan annually to ensure that their current coverage best meets their needs. Surprisingly, only 60% of the seniors surveyed said they reviewed their current plan at least once a year. As a result, many seniors experience gaps in coverage and higher health care costs when they discover their medical issue isn’t adequately covered by Medicare or private insurance.
