Multiple units from Bend Fire and Rescue helped fight a residential structure fire at 61539 Meeks Trail Wednesday. No injuries were reported. One person was in the home when the fire broke out but was able to evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival.
The home is considered a complete loss. The 3,000 square foot house was built in 2012. The house (no property included) is valued at $1.25 million. The property loss on this fire is approximately $1 million. Most of the homes interior contents are considered a complete loss at another $200,000. Two vehicles were saved in the garage. The home is insured and local insurance agent is helping the owner with their claim.
Red Cross was called into assist with a temporary place to stay until insurance could find more permeant housing for the occupant. Redmond Fire Department provided a mutual aide ladder truck to assist on scene with the extensive fire suppression efforts. Due to the partial collapse of a roof and second floor, all fire fighting operations had to be done from the exterior and from the ladder. DCSO, County Public Works, City Public Works and Oregon State Fire Marshals Office all provided assistance for this incident.
