The Redmond School District Board of Directors voted 4-1 in its special meeting Tuesday evening to obtain outside legal counsel in an effort to explore options related to Resolution 21:163 passed Aug. 25, which demands a return of local control with regard to pandemic-related safety measures.
The school board retained Dan Thenell and The Thenell Law Group P.C., of Portland, Oregon. Thenell and his law group will provide the board with legal options it can pursue.
Hartfield, Vice Chair Michael Summers and directors Jill Cummings and Keri Lopez voted in favor of retaining outside legal counsel, while director Liz Goodrich was opposed.
