On December 8, 2020 at about 11:08 am deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s
Office were dispatched to a piece of BLM land off Highway 126 in Powell Butte near
the Crook/Deschutes County to the report of human remains being found.
Deputies were taken to the area and confirmed the remains to be human. There is
an active investigation at this time. The Crook County Sheriff’s Office is being
assisted by the Major Incident Team, Crook County District Attorney’s Office and the
Oregon State Police Crime Lab.
