Redmond, Ore – Redmond School District has announced the selection of Lance McMurphy for the role of Nutrition Services Director.
McMurphy joins Redmond School District with more than 21 years of experience in food service management. He has been serving as the general manager of food service and nutrition director with Sodexo for Steilacoom Historical School District for the past four years. At Steilacoom McMurphy was responsible for the nutrition services program that supported 3,300 students in three distinct municipalities in Western Washington’s South Puget Sound area.
“I have a vision that the school kitchens and cafeterias can be much more than just a place to get an affordable, nutritious meal to fuel students’ success throughout the school day,” shared McMurphy. “I hope to collaborate with the administration and current Nutrition staff at each school site to see what we can do to more fully integrate these spaces as educational resources to promote safety, life skills, business acumen, and most importantly, wellness.”
McMurphy will be tasked with leading the district’s Nutrition Services Department of approximately 35 team members. He will begin August 5, 2019 and will immediately begin collaborating with district and school leadership to serve students with healthy, nutritious meals across 15 school sites.
“Redmond School District is excited to have Lance join the Nutrition Services Department team,” said Tony Pupo, Redmond School District Director of Operations. “He brings thorough and diversified knowledge of the food service industry and is passionate about health and wellness. We look forward to his creativity and enthusiasm as we continue to support students and families.”
