Portland, Ore. – Former Gov. Jon Kitzhaber’s son, 18-year-old Logan Kitzhaber has been booked on a warrant related to a July crash near the Oregon Coast.
Logan Kitzhaber was briefly jailed Wednesday. The warrant was for third and fourth-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, according to a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Kitzhaber, who turns 19 today, hasn’t been formally charged, said according to a police spokesman. Kitzhaber was in jail for about five hours before being released on $15,000 bail, which is 10 percent of his total bail.
Kitzhaber was involved in a rollover crash on U.S. 101 north of Lincoln City on July 4.
The Lincoln County warrant was for assault, DUI, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
Authorities say Kitzhaber was driving a on U.S. Highway 101 north of Lincoln City when his vehicle sideswiped a motor home after crossing the centerline, causing it roll onto its side.
The motor home occupants injuries were not-life threatening and were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
A trooper has said he believes Kitzhaber was under the influence of intoxicants at the time.
