(LOS ANGELES) — Daisy Ridley knows a thing or two about launching a new Star Wars film. The star of the new franchise is less than a year out from the debut of the blockbuster first film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and a little more than a year away from the December 2017 debut of its sequel, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which finished principal photography in July.
So Ridley knows what Felicity Jones, the star of the upcoming standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is going through. But there’s no rivalry between the new Star Wars stars. Ridley tells ABC Radio that while she hasn’t seen an advance of Rogue One, she and Jones just had drinks a few weeks ago.
“I have not seen it. I’m very excited to though. I hear very good things,” says Ridley. “And me and Felicity had a drink a couple of weeks ago and it was really interesting talking to her because I’ve had so many conversations this year, but she’s literally about to do the same exact thing I was doing this time last year, and it’s super exciting.”
Ridley added that she has great admiration for Jones, saying, “She’s like the greatest, and also I’m a huge fan of hers so I was trying to keep it together.”
Ridley’s new documentary, The Eagle Huntress, which she narrates and executive-produces, opens November 2, 2016.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on December 15, 2017 by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
