2016 – Sony(NEW YORK) — For reasons not entirely clear, the all-female Ghostbusters reboot will be coming to DVD and Blu-ray under a new name.
The release is now being marketed as Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. Perhaps it’s something like a box office witness relocation program?
In fairness, “Answer the Call” is a subtitle that appeared on the movie’s theatrical release poster and was including in marketing. But even then, the movie was titled simply Ghostbusters. Now, it’s popping up on retailer websites as Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.
The movie, starring Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon suffered from bad buzz before its release and a reported 70-million-dollar loss for Sony after it. So far, it’s earned just under $218 million worldwide.
Ghostbusters: Answer the Call comes to digital September 27, and DVD and Blu-ray October 11.
