Highway 97 Reopens South Of Bend

Bend, Ore. – All lanes are now open on US 97 near MP 145 (5 miles south of Bend). The route was closed earlier Monday morning due to a crash. The first report of the crash was shortly after 8am. The highway reopened around Noon Monday.

ODOT’S Trip Check reports that Highway 97, five miles south of Bend, is shut down in both directions because of a possible serious-injury head-on crash. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

The crash was first reported shortly after 8am Monday at milepost 145, close to the the High Desert Museum.

All lanes are closed at this time. Use alternate routes if available. The route may be closed for several hours.

Oregon State Police, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and fire medics from Bend and Sunriver are on scene.

Dispatchers urge caution and to use other routes due to delays in the area.
