Terry Bomar, Dan Haggerty’s manager and friend for 20 years, confirms to ABC News that Haggerty passed away Friday morning of cancer.  He was 74.

Haggerty was an animal trainer when producers of the 1974 film The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams cast him as the bearded mountain man who adopts and raises a grizzly bear cub, who becomes his companion.  The movie inspired the NBC TV series Grizzly Adams, in which Haggerty also starred, with Denver Pyle, which ran from 1977 to 1978.

Haggerty made occasional film and TV guest-starring appearances in the years following Grizzly Adams.
