Hunter Booths Provide Fire Safety Info. In Central Oregon

hunters

Prineville, Ore. – Wildland fire officials will be hosting Hunter Information Booths throughout central Oregon to provide hunters with current fire restrictions. Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and Walker Range Forest Protective Association (WRFPA) will provide information on restrictions for open fires, off-road travel, smoking in the woods, and chainsaw use.

Cooler fall weather has not provided the moisture necessary to reduce the fire danger throughout the region. Warm afternoons continue to dry vegetation and down fuels; conditions still pose a HIGH risk of fire growth.

Fire season restrictions and regulated closures in effect for lands protected by ODF and WRFPA are intended to reduce the risk of human caused fires. Fire managers continue to monitor fuel conditions, weather forecasts, and fire risk to determine necessary restrictions.

Federal agencies will be available to answer questions about hunting and recreating on public lands, including road and area closure information.
