Canyon Creek Fire Grows To 84,960 Acres, More Winds Fuel Flames Today

John Day, Ore. – Fire crews will be busy fighting back flames fueled by winds on the Canyon Creek Complex.

The fire grew dramatically yesterday with the higher winds and is now mapped at close to 85,000 acres.canyon creek 82615

Today, weather conditions will be similar to yesterday. Southwest winds with gusts up to 15-20 mph are predicted. A smoke column can affect the winds directly in the fire area increasing the wind gusts.

Temperatures are expected in the mid 80s to low 90s. There is a local Red Flag Warning.

Air quality is improving around the local communities, however it remains unhealthy for those with respiratory conditions.
