Last evening, the fire was pushed by southwest winds and advanced into the Norton Fork of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness.

Crews had been working over the past few days to secure the line between the northeast corner of the fire to the wilderness boundary, working south from developed areas. Firefighters had progressed as far as 1/2 mile south of Mud Springs. However, this push by the main fire occurred 2-3 miles south of their improved line.

Weather Outlook: A combination of warm temperatures, low humidity, and a Haines Index value of 5 has prompted the local National Weather Service office to continue a Red Flag Warning for the Canyon Creek Complex area through Monday evening. The Haines Index, which uses a scale of 1 to 6, indicates the potential for wildfire growth by measuring the stability and dryness of the air over a fire.
