Bend Fire Says Wildland Fire Crews Helped Stop Commercial Fire From Spreading

Bend, Ore. – The Bend Fire Department says a commercial fire broke out around 10 this morning behind a house on Pioneer Loop. When crew arrived the shed was “fully involved” and the fire was spreading to the grass and brush on the property.

The Bend Fire Department used a defenseive approach, fighting from outside of the structure and Oregon Department of Forestry crews and firefighters from the Deschutes National Forest Service provided wildland fighting help. They kept the fire to 2 tenths of an acre.

Although the main obstacle proved to be getting water to the site, the Fire Department was
able to make an efficient stop on the fire.  The shed and its contents, however, were a total loss.
